Nigerian Health Advocate, Laz Eze, joins W/A Cancer Care Foundation

A public health specialist and Founder of TalkHealth9ja, Dr Laz Eze has joined the Foundation for Cancer Care in West Africa team as an Advisory Board Member. He made this announcement on his twitter handle. The foundation established over a decade ago has been a leading organisation in the promotion of cancer awareness, cancer patient advocacy, cancer research, provision of cancer screening to under-served and vulnerable communities and the development of capacity building and training measures for primary health care practitioners in Africa.

According to the foundation, Dr. Eze was invited to join other eminent professionals in the Board in recognition of the high level of expertise he has garnered from running a successful cancer support and advocacy non-governmental organization in Nigeria, his passion for the improvement of cancer treatment outcomes in Nigeria and his impactful public health and health policy work.

In his response, Dr Eze said he is excited with the advisory role he would play, helping to provide strategic leadership to the foundation to achieve more in cancer prevention and improved access to effective and qualitative care. Dr. Eze was widely applauded for his roles as the Executive Director of the Pink Oak Cancer Trust – a private sector initiative that supported the treatment of 26 cancer patients in Nigeria within two years. He has been leading a national advocacy for a stronger health care system and access to quality health care through the Make Our Hospital Work Campaign. Other members of the foundation’s Board include Dr. Chukwumere Nwogu  -the Founder of Lakeshore Cancer Centre (Nigeria’s first private cancer hospital), Mrs Fabia Ogunmeka, Bindiya Sadarangani, Dr Oge Iloegbune, Engr. Felix Ifezulike, Paul Onwuanibe, among others.
