Nigerians react to Buhari’s Fake Award purportedly from Martin Luther Centre

Nigerian social media space is abuzz with negative comments and reactions as the Martin Luther King, Jr Centre has distanced itself from a leadership and anti-corruption award purportedly given to President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday.

The Martin Luther King Centre @TheKingCentre had tweeted on Wednesday: “The award given to President Buhari of Nigeria was not given by The King Center, at the request of The King Center or by the children of #MLK and #CorettaScottKing. @MrFixNigeria”

Governor of Ekiti State, Peter Ayodele Fayose @GovAyoFayose mocked Buhari’s handlers for telling lies about their principal.

“Why using the name of Martin Luther King to lie? But I’m not surprised. Nigerians should remember how they lied that Buhari had an interview with the CEO, All Eyes on Africa TV Show, Kemi Fadojutimi in UK on Feb 20, 2015, whereas, the interview was held in Transcorp Hotel, Abuja”, Fayose said.

Another commenter, AryLoyds said: “Wallahi this is really bad…but to couple that with forgery and scam awards is the height of insanity”

An anonymous commenter said: Well, it is good the the centre has denied involvement, but whoever did and for whatever motive it is false cus Buhari is undeserving of such an award, infact Dr Martin Luther King (RIP) will be rolling in his grave if Buhari receives such an award cus Dr Martin Luther King stood for peace, non-violence, tolerance, equity, justice, fairness, rule of law, equality etc Buhari has demonstrated he is against most or all of those things, and when it comes to corruption, Buhari may claim to be Mr Integrity but his appointees are stealing the monies on his behalf, many of them who were struggling before are now multi billionaires in 2 tears and it is not surprising, the anti-corruption war is a joke, 11 Trillion borrowed, multi trillions budgeted, trillions recovered in loots but the masses cannot see or feel the impact of 40% cus the balance is being stolen by APC thieves, buharis govt is not stopping the corruption, it is re-directing the beneficiaries.

President Buhari recently received an award of leadership and anti- corruption from a group said to be associated with Martin Luther King.

The award was said to be part of the King’s family activities marking the Black History Month.

State House officials, including Bashir Ahmed, a media aide to the president, have touted the award as being given by the late civil rights activist’s nephew.

The nephew, identified as Isaac Newton-Farris also reportedly urged Nigerians to allow Mr. Buhari continue as Nigerian president because of his tremendous achievement.
