Ex-PDP’s Publicity Secretary, Metuh collapses in court during trial

Former National Publicity Secretary of Nigeria’s opposition party, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Olisa Metuh Monday collapsed in court at the resumption of his trial for alleged money laundering.

Metuh who spoke for the PDP just before the party was defeated by the Buhari-led All Progressive Congress (APC) in 2015 is being tried for corruption and embezzlement.

At the resumption of his trial on Monday, The Guardian of Nigeria reported that Metuh collapsed in Abuja Court.

His collapse did not stop the trial judge, Justice Okon Abang, from proceeding with the trial.

The paper said that Metuh, who is facing a N400 million money laundering charge, had on several occasions, been on admission in various hospitals in Nigeria over a worsening spinal chord ailment for which doctors had recommended surgery as definitive treatment and referred him to the London hospital since 2016.
