Nigeria’s President may have suspended RUGA project

Nigeria’s major television channel, Channels TV has reported that the Nigerian government has suspended the RUGA project which is conceived to set up settlements for Fulani herdsmen across all states of the country.

The RUGA idea had sparked-off huge conversation in the media where people registered their apprehension that RUGA might be a ploy to ‘fulanise or Islamize Nigeria’.

According to Channels Television, a source in the Presidency revealed the FG’s decision to suspend the programme, which has generated mixed reactions from Nigerians.

The Presidency source also revealed that the Nigeria Governors’ Forum would be addressing the issue soon.
