Nigerian ex-Gov. Nyame, bags 14 years in prison for offence of 18 years
For offense he allegedly committed between 1999 and 2007 (about 18 years ago) when he was the Governor of Taraba State, Northern Nigeria, Jolly Nyame, has been sent to jail for 14 years by an Abuja High Court.
The Governor, often called a pastor was charged on 41 counts of fraud but was found guilty on 27.
The Federal Capital Territory, (FCT) High Court gave him no option of fine.
The court blamed him for financial recklessness and brazen display of executive power without following due process.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had charged him to court for allegedly diverting N1.64 billion while he served as governor of Taraba between 1999 and 2007.
