Pastor donates N2 billion worth of items to fight COVID-19 in Nigeria
Pastor Dr. Paul Enenche, the Founder and General Overseer of Dunamis Church, based in Nigeria has donated N2 billion worth of relief materials to the Nigerian Government to help in the fight against COVID-19 in the West African Country.
According to information released by Nigeria’s Ministry of Finance, Enenche are the United Bank of Africa (UBA) donated N2 billion each. Aliko Dangote, the Chairman of Dangote Group donated N1 billion. Nigeria’s National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) donated N11 billion, the Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar donated N50 million.
Dr. Enenche recently opened acclaimed ‘largest sanctuary in the world in Abuja, Nigeria, called the Glory Dome.
The Glory Dome—which is part of a larger property referred to as “The Lord’s Garden”—can hold 100,000 people, and a 2016 promotional video said the auditorium would be “the largest covered roof in Africa.”
The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases across Nigeria has risen to 174 after 23 new cases were confirmed on Wednesday, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) disclosed.
The centre revealed on its Twitter handle that nine cases were discovered in Lagos, seven in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), five in Akwa Ibom and one each in Bauchi and Kaduna States.
It said: “23 new cases of #COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria – 9 in Lagos, 7 in the FCT, 5 in Akwa Ibom, 1 in Kaduna and 1 in Bauchi State.”
The new cases brought the number of people that had been infected by coronavirus in Nigeria to 174.
The NCDC said all the new cases have mild to moderate symptoms and are currently receiving care.
Restrictions
In an attempt to reduce the number of infections in the country, the federal government has ordered a lockdown in three states , Lagos. Ogun and FCT.
The Director General NCDC, Chikwe Ihekweazu, said Nigeria could be reporting more cases as the agency has expanded its capability for testing.
He said Nigeria can now test between 1000 samples a day and they are working on reducing the turnaround time for results.
The government is also working on tracking those who might have been exposed to people who have tested positive for the virus.
