Title: BAG OF MESS
By Kelechi Okoronkwo
You see a lady from a safe distance
She cuts your image of a gazelle
Your heart melts and your jaw drops
You beckon and she follows
You let things in-between go too fast
Scarlets fall off your eyes
She turns out a bag of mess
A big full bag of mess, you can see
You plot a run to reclaim yourself
She looks into your eyes and dares
‘Don’t even think about it
‘Even in your weirdest imagination’
‘Or like a calabash,
‘I will use your head to drink water’
Her eyes, a mix of rage and mischief
You become as cold as a block of ice
As restless as animated GIFs
You wonder how you got in the mess
And how the mess got into you
All night long you plot different graphs
On the busy slate of your mind
No perfect angle
No graph meets at equilibrium
You wake up again laying side by side
With this bag of mess
Then it dawns on you
You are stuck
Forever, stuck with a big full bag of mess
Cos you let things in-between go too fast
