24 hours earlier than scheduled, President Muhammadu Buhari has returned to Abuja from London, United Kingdom on Friday.

His plane landed at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at about 7 pm.

Buhari was in London to for medical reasons on the request of his doctor, the presidency said.

A tweet from the handle of the Presidency; @NGRPresident said “ President @MBuhari this evening returned to Abuja”.

He was received by Abba Kyari, his Chief of Staff; Mohammed Bello, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, and other top government functionaries.
Garba Shehu, his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, also confirmed his arrival, writing on Twitter: “President Buhari just returned, a clear 24 hours…”

This is at least the third medical trip Buhari has undertaken to the UK in 2018 alone.

Mr Buhari left Abuja on Tuesday on a four-day medical trip to the UK.

He had stayed in London for two days last week while returning from Washington, United States, where he met with President Donald Trump.

A statement by a presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu, on Monday said, “In the course of the technical stop-over for aircraft maintenance in London on his way back from Washington last week, the president had a meeting with his doctor.”

Mr Shehu said the doctor requested “the president to return for a meeting which he agreed to do.”

The spokesperson said the president was expected to return to Nigeria on Saturday.

Main opposition party in Nigeria, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said the presidency is taking Nigerians for granted by deliberately ignoring or deceiving the masses on issues about the health status of their president, Muhammadu Buhari.

In a statement on Tuesday after its Press Conference, the PDP demanded truth about what is ailing Buhari and consequent information.
