Buhari Visited Nasarawa to Console Kinsmen over loss of cattle—PDP
Nigeria’s main opposition party has blasted President Muhammadu Buhari over his visit to Nasarawa State, North Central Nigeria to “commiserate with the people for the killings and the loss of cattle of some herders in the area”.
The party blamed Buhari for choosing to visit Nasarawa State to commiserate with them over alleged killing of Fulani herders’ cattle instead of visiting the neighbouring Benue State to commiserate with them over killing of over 150 citizens by Fulani herdsmen.
Buhari visited the state on Tuesday for the official purpose of commissioning some projects done by the Governor, Tanko Almakura but the PDP said the commissioning was a veil to cover the main reason for his visit.
In a series of tweet messages on its handle @OfficialPDPNig, the PDP said: “We commend @Mbuhari for visiting Lafia, the Capital of Nasarawa State on the pretense of commissioning special schools, but to commiserate with the people for the killings and the loss of cattle of some herders in the area.
We are however surprised that instead of President @Mbuhari to visit Benue State that had similar incidents with mind bodging casualties involving humans, the President choose to call on Lafia, neglecting the people of Benue State.
“This action of President @Mbuhari has once again reminded Nigerians that the President is just for a section of the country and not for everybody as he claimed in his inauguration speech”
Buhari has been roundly criticised for his inability to visit Benue state or send a commiseration letter to the Benue people after the attack by Fulani herdsmen at the beginning of the year which claimed about 150 farmers. The official figure of the victims of the attack is put, now at 83 but the state government gave a mass burial to 73 victims last month.
