Nigerian actress, husband convicted on violating coronavirus lockdown

Actress Funke Akindele and her husband, Abdul Rasheed Bello have been convicted by a Lagos State Court of violating the government’s order on coronavirus lockdown.

Both Funke and her husband pleaded guilty of the one-count charge.

They were accused of holding a party in their home.

Akindele and her husband will now have to each pay a $260 (£210) fine and do 14 days of community service.

They have been told to “visit 10 important public places within Lagos State to educate the public on the consequences of non-compliance with the restriction order”.

They also have to submit the names and contacts of all the guests at the party and the police say they have launch a manhunt for them.

One of those who was at the party, singer Naira Marley, is already in police custody, the police said.
