COVID-19: Presbyterian Church declares 3-day Prayer and Fasting

The Presbyterian Church of Nigeria (PCN) has called on all its members to privately, at familial levels, observe a three-day prayer and fasting from Friday, May 1st to Sunday, May 3rd, 2020 to seek the face of God on behalf of all the nations of the world concerning the ravaging global pandemic, COVID-19.

For about four months now, COVID-19 has continuously plagued and bemused the world from the most advanced to the developing economies. Globally, nearly three million people have been infected and more than two hundred thousand killed by the disease which emanated from Wuhan, China between November and December 2019.

Despite global efforts, there are still much left unknown about the virus, thereby raising global consciousness to seek divine intervention.

A statement by the Very Reverend John Abba Vincent who is the Prayer Chaplain to the Prelate and Moderator of the General Assembly of the PCN, His Eminence Nzie Nsi Eke which was made available to Discover Africa News network stated: “Now, the spirit bids us to take a 3-day fast from Friday, 1st May to Sunday, 3rd May 2020 and raise a prayer altar of mercy for the church and the nations”.

It read: “Beloved, we appreciate your unceasing intercessions for the nations and the church. God will surely reward your labour in his secret place. Now, the spirit bids us to take a 3-day fast from Friday, 1st May to Sunday, 3rd May 2020 and raise a prayer altar of mercy for the church and the nations”.

“The spirit says, on the last day of the fast, we should rise from wherever we are and declare to COVID-19 plague: ‘it is enough…it is enough….”, the statement noted.

Scriptural guide for the Prayer and Fasting is taken from: 2 Samuel 24:10-25.

He also noted:  “The eyes of the father run to and fro, he’s searching the earth, he’s looking for those who will make intercession, on behalf of the nations, those who would  rise and pray: (Ezekiel 22:30)

He enjoined all Christian faithful under the PCN to propagate the message so as to get members to observe the sessions.

“God bless you as you prepare yourself and your family to be part of this spiritual exercise. Arise and shine”, he noted.
