Anger as Boko Haram Slaughters Andimi, Christian Chief in Nigeria

Reports from Nigeria have said that Boko Haram insurgents have slaughtered the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Adamawa State, North-East Nigeria, Lawan Andimi, who was abducted early this January.

Christian communities in Nigeria have expressed anger about the death of Andimi. His outcry and pleas to the governments did not attract any meaningful help.

Andimi was abducted on January 3rd when the insurgents attacked Michika, a Local Government in Adamawa.

He was from Kwada village in Chibok local government area of Borno state but worked as a pastor in Michika.

Multiple sources who confirmed to the incident to Discover Africa News that Andimi was killed by his captors on Monday and that a CAN delegation has been dispatched to the deceased family in Adamawa.

Andimi’s disappearance followed a foiled attack on Michika LGA by Boko Haram insurgents on January 3rd.

But, a short video uploaded by Ahmed Salkida, a journalist known to have access to Boko Haram leadership on Sunday, showed that Andimi has been captured by the terror group.

He urged his family members to pray for his release, adding that if he is not released, maybe it is the will of God.

Andimi said, “I have never been discouraged because all condition that one find himself is in the hand of God.

“God who make them to take care of me and to leave my life will still work and he will touch them.

“I’m appealing to my colleagues, friends particularly my President, and my Governor for my release.

“This people have been doing me well, they provide my every need, they haven’t done anything wrong to me so I believe that God who made them to act in such a way to me will make all arrangement for me to leave here.

“By the grace of God I will be together with my wife and children, If the opportunity is not granted maybe it is the will of God.

“I urge you all to be patient, Don’t cry, don’t worry but thank God for everything.”
